Networking With Small Business

I attended COSE’s SWAP 25/Networking event Wednesday at Champp’s Americana in Valley View.  The group was small, about 25 people at five tables, and the format was similar to the LinkedIn SNAP events. But, I only went to three different tables, and returned to my home table three times, for six sessions in 90 minutes. COSE staff handed out sheets that mapped out your course.

Only met one financial services representative. It was a sprinkling of other small businesses: IT services, gifts, signs, party and machine rentals, Amway-type products, photographer. Reconnected with a gentleman who works for a Lakewood video marketing firm.

There will be another Swap event Dec. 2.

Besides the COSE event, I also went Oct. 5 to the monthly meeting of the Writers’ Circle at Twinsburg Public Library. It is small group (less than 10) of area writers for various genres: graphic novels, plays, and fiction. Debating if I should return. My “professional” writer snobbery is showing.

I went to the Networking Power Hours, at the Cleveland Airport Marriott last night. It was a good event – nice mix of people, about 50 all together. I got there late, so I didn’t have time to speak with all the attendees, but some of the people I talked to: a few financial planners, several in various home improvement, graphic design, PR/marketing, computer training, personalized gifts and promotional items, cleaning services, and a mini-mall operator.

Thanks for the mention! Please let us know if we be of any assistance.
