Annual Summer Social Set

Just received the first alert to a big end of Summer party. The Web Association, American Marketing Assoc. Cleveland Chapter and Direct Marketing Assoc. of Cleveland are holding their annual Summer Social August 4 at the Cleveland Yacht Club, Rocky River. Its $35 for the Web Association and $40 nonmembers for the other groups to mingle.

I attended the ’08 and ’09 gatherings. Receiving this news makes me sad. I wish to go to this and say I’m working somewhere. webassociation.org

Also COSE’s Networking Night is August 25 on Whiskey Island. I went to one earlier this year in Parma. It promises more than 100 attendees. The cost for nonmembers is $20. Check out the website for more info, www.cose.org.

Where did I go last week?

Monday was the Lake Erie Moose Society bloggers’ group. A contact, Julie D., introduced me to this group earlier this year. Some of the big names in Cleveland social media are founders and members. I like hanging out with them.

Wednesday had been the NEO Society For Technical Communication Networking Lunch. Just me and two others at Don’s Pomeroy House, Strongsville. Did location and the season contribute to the low turnout? Great conversation though.

Friday I went to Nordonia chapter meeting of Working Women Connection. I wanted to go for some time and got an invite from the founder of this regional networking group. Because it’s Summer, it was a small group; less than 10 women. Small business owners. Usually first meeting is free. Best if you first attend monthly all chapters lunch as nonmember; then a chapter meeting.

Wow, Pat, you hit another one out of the park with this issue! And it’s always lovely to have you at the Lake Erie Moose Society meeting. You do get around, girlfriend – and congrats on the new gig!

      Susie-
Thank you for the comment. And thanks for passing along the list via Facebook.
Although I did go to three events last week, there were others I wanted to go to.
As a great networker, do you have any advice on determining which events to go to for our readers?
Are there any groups they should be watching?

    Hello Pat,
You have been a much needed resource for the area job seekers- it is truly an invaluable service. Thank you.

As an AARP Volunteer I am presenting at a picnic geared to families of job seekers and I hope you would consider getting the word out. The URL is http://tiny.cc/mk9rk with information. It is a charity event so there is a fee- however job seekers over 50 are eligible for a limited number of free tickets.
Thanks both for your service and for your consideration.
    Sincerely,
    Pegg Milroy
